They were made in 1963 and with the exception of the Cubs, all come on a round green base. The Black Player Yankee is the second most difficult nodder to find in the entire hobby.

The Houston Colt Black Player is the "Holy Grail" of our bobbin head/nodder world. They are available in 2 types. Type 1, regular face and no eyebrows, and Type 2, serious face with eyebrows. Typically, the smiling Type 1 version is considered the rarer of the two types and I agree with that anology when it comes to the Houston Colt Black face.

There are now approximately 9 known examples of the Houston Colt Black Face. Six Type 2 and three Type 1.

But I'm getting off track here. The Yankees are second only to the Colts when it comes to scarcity of bobbin heads. In Bobbin Head Dolls price guide, Tim Hunter states that he has NEVER seen a mint example of the New York Yankee Black Player Doll. Not sure how many were made in their entirety nor how many, if any, exist in a mint like condition, but this one does!

I'm not going to move these cheaply, as I really don't mind keeping them. They have always been my greatest passion in this hobby. There is nothing that I enjoy more and I'm not even sure why? At the very end, so long as I was good, and I always was, I was allowed to pick one bobbin head from behind the counter.

I simply adored them even then. I'd go clothing shopping everyday if my Mother wanted me to. They shall never leave me and I took great care of them. Except for writing 43 on the back of one of my Phillies, Wes Covington's number, all others are perfectly preserved.

Yes, you heard me correctly, 3.15 million dollars for a baseball card. Personally, I like the bobbin heads far better, they're simply gorgeous, but extremely fragile! I will allow reasonable and respectable offers but I won't give them away. I don't have another one of these and apparently not many people do. I have listed the Type 2 serious face Colt, and the Type 1 smiling face will be listed next week.
