Ruths signature has been boldly scripted in blank fountain pen and grades 9. The black-ink signatures of nine other individuals appear on the ball, none of which are recognized names. It appears that these nine individuals were members of a local baseball team, because each has noted his respective position next to his name. The fact that two of the players have home run written below their names leads us to believe that these nine players took in a game in which Ruth either participated or attended.
It might even originate from one of the games played on the famous Bustin Babes and Larrupin Lous barnstorming tour in either 1927 or 1928. It was standard practice on that tour for Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig to captain local town teams at each stop. These nine players might have been assigned to Ruths team for one of the games. Of course, this is only speculation and we will probably never know the exact circumstances of its signing.
The only thing we can be sure of is that the ball features an outstanding Babe Ruth signature that displays much as it did when Ruth first signed it those many decades ago. The ball is darkly toned, with a number of small abrasions and insect holes. The item "Babe Ruth Signed Baseball PSA/DNA" is in sale since Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
